OUR STORY
Gavl started in 2012 with two architects and a borrowed table in Islands Brygge. We still draw at that table. Today we are twelve, and we take on about eight buildings a year, so a partner draws every one of them.
EVERY PLAN STARTS BY HAND
EVERY PROJECT GETS A MODEL
We are architects, interior designers and one carpenter. We work in one room, with the models on the window sill and the material samples on the shelf behind us, so everyone sees every project.
Most of our clients find us through a building they have stood in. That suits us: we would rather be judged on how a room feels at seven in the morning than on how it looks in a render.

The person who walks your site is the person who draws it and the one who signs off the build.

Fewer, better
About eight buildings a year, never more. Small enough that we know every one by heart.

Built to be mended
Timber, lime, brick and stone, joined so they can be repaired in fifty years, not replaced.
